Language is a funny old thing, isn’t it. For instance, are you aware that we can all use language more effectively to influence others?
After you realise how important language is, you may begin to understand that the words we use can easily make a difference to the way people naturally respond to our suggestions and requests.
And this is true whether you want to influence behaviour in a hypnotherapy session, a sales presentation, a parent talking to a child, or a lover seducing their partner.
Just imagine for a moment some of the many easy yet powerful ways you can use this information …
It has been said that there are certain language patterns that force the listener to accept your ideas and concepts as true, and among these are a group of words that may be described as “Awareness Patterns”
The Awareness Pattern includes the following types of words:
- Experience
- Aware
- Realise
Usually, saying any one of these words makes the listener start the mental process that you mention in the sentence – it is all to do with the deep structure of the linguistic pattern. As soon as the mind encounters the Awareness Pattern, it has to process the information to make sense of what has been said, and by making sense of the words, it can only be perceived inwardly.
Consider the phrase “I wonder if you are aware of the comfort of your left shoe?”
In order for the listener to immediately understand the question, they cannot help but go inward and truly perceive that awareness before they can provide an answer.
Hey presto, job done!
Perhaps some examples will help you discover the many ways in which these language patterns can be used:
“Is the awareness of the power of these patterns beginning to sink in?”
“Naturally, as you start to realise the value of this insurance policy, you may become aware of the additional benefits you can enjoy.”
“That wonderful experience will always feel special. I wonder if you realise that deep inside.”
Now, as you begin to use these words more and more, and as your skill naturally improves day by day, you might think that someone may respond to the question “Are you aware of …” by replying “No, I’m not”
Well, you can be assured that when presented properly, this will never happen, though remember if it ever did, all you need to reply is simply,
“Not yet, eh?”
Trust me, this truly works wonders.
There are many other words that can be included in the Awareness Pattern category, though it is my belief that the words “Aware”,”Experience” and “Realise” are the most powerful. Other words that may be considered are:
- Wonder
- Understand
- Know
- Think
- Feel
- Puzzle
- Speculate
- Perceive
- Discover
- Accomplish
- Fulfill
- Grasp
- Consider
- Reconsider
- Assume
- Conceive
- Sense
- Advise
- Notified
- Notice
Begin to use these in your everyday language, and as time goes by, you will automatically start to influence others more effectively.
Of course, now that you have read this article all the way through, I wonder if you are able to go back to the start and discover how many of the patterns have been used … I’m sure that from today, you’ll easily notice when those patterns are being used, won’t you … !
